Tech talk
Tech Tuesday, a well timed event.
Well I have choosen a subject which will eventualy affect all of us, or will,
Sooner than we think.
To be more to the point.
Singapore's immigration & checkpoints authority(ICA) has moved ahead with its
efforts to use Gemplus International's smart card technolgy in pioneering it's biometric
passport program.
System will be implemented in October. " Singapore citizens can begin to apply for the biometric passport.
Now as far as our country, the U.S also plan to use the same technology to embed the
RFID chips in our passports also!!no date given..how it works you say?
Smart card technology is contactless, which enables cards embedded in passports to be read
from readers located four inches away. and get this, the technology is legal because it
meets the standards promulgated by the United Nations International Civil Aviation
organization.
( Biometric information about passport holder, namely us, will be authenticated against personal information on the chip, so big brother can squeeze a little tighter) (around our necks. ooops, excuse me, Iment to say liberties.) isn't that just great?
Well my fellow citizens, sleep on that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!seeyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
